Purpose-Built in Knoxville. Not Bolted to a Boat Trailer.
Every CTS remote surveillance trailer starts as raw US-sourced steel in our Knoxville, Tennessee facility. We design and weld every fully boxed steel frame in-house, purpose-built for the weight, vibration, and deployment demands of law enforcement and public safety field operations. This is not a marine trailer chassis with equipment bolted on top. The diamond plate steel floor lets operators stand, stage gear, and work on the platform during deployment. Diamond plate steel fenders replace the plastic fenders found on competing trailers. Ours support a full-grown adult standing on them to service equipment.
Next-Generation Lithium. Not Last-Generation Lead.
The FST-44 runs on lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries wired to 48V DC. Where competing trailers use AGM lead-acid batteries rated for 300 charge cycles, our lithium cells deliver 2,000 to 5,000 cycles, a decade of daily use without replacement. They charge four times faster from solar, weigh roughly half as much at equivalent capacity, and perform in extreme heat and cold that would destroy lead-acid chemistry. The result: a trailer that weighs 2,000–2,500 lbs instead of 3,000+ lbs, towable by any patrol SUV or pickup. Need a different battery chemistry for arctic, desert, or high-altitude deployment? We build to your specs.
Mil-Spec Primer. Marine-Grade Powder Coat. Your Color.
Every trailer receives mil-spec primer followed by a marine-grade black textured powder coat, the same finish rated for offshore platforms and Navy vessels. UV, salt air, rain, snow, and years of outdoor deployment will not degrade this finish. Custom colors available to match your agency’s branding. The electronics enclosure, pole camera housing, and fenders are all color-matched for a unified professional appearance.
All-Terrain Tires. Rock Crawler Wheels.
Every CTS trailer rolls on heavy-duty all-terrain tires rated for mud, snow, and off-road conditions, mounted on forged rock crawler wheels built for abuse. Standard trailer tires are designed for pavement. Your deployments aren’t always on pavement. Fairgrounds, parks, construction perimeters, dirt roads, wet grass, gravel. These tires grip where standard trailer rubber slides. The aggressive wheel and tire package also improves towing stability behind the tow vehicle.

The Only Field-Swappable Mast on the Market.
The FST-44’s RATT mast and dual PTZ pole camera are fully removable from the trailer and redeploy on a vehicle hitch, tripod, or wall bracket without tools. No other solar surveillance trailer offers this. Deploy the trailer at a fixed location for your initial mission, then when the operation shifts, pull the mast and move it to a patrol vehicle for a mobile surveillance tower operation or to a rooftop via tripod legs. Swap a camera head for a light tower, antenna, or different sensor. One person, under 15 minutes. Mast elevation is fully pneumatic via an onboard electric air compressor. A manual hand pump provides backup, ensuring the mast always goes up regardless of conditions.
640 Watts of Autonomous Solar Power.
The solar array combines two high-efficiency monocrystalline panels, a 500W PERC module and a 320W N-Type module, for 640W of total generation capacity. Unlike trailers with fixed-angle panels locked at a single position, our articulating solar panels tilt and adjust to maximize absorption throughout the day and across seasons. A pin-and-clip locking system secures panels flat for travel and at the optimal angle for deployment. The 48V DC lithium battery bank stores energy for days of autonomous operation. 120V shore power connection is standard.
Fits a Parking Spot. Tows Behind Any Patrol Vehicle.
The standard folding tongue reduces stored footprint to 98 inches, inside a standard parking space. No removable tongue to lose. At 2,000–2,500 lbs, any patrol SUV or pickup with a 2-inch hitch tows it. Trailer brakes, breakaway box, and 7-way connector are standard. An 8-inch wheel tongue jack lets one person position the trailer. Drill-compatible outriggers speed leveling. A rear 2×2-inch hitch receiver accommodates a secondary RATT mast for dual-mast capability, unique to CTS trailers.
Cloud-Native Cameras. No NVR Required. Access from Anywhere.
Every camera on the FST-44 ships cloud-ready with built-in edge storage and cloud recording. No network video recorder, no camera server, no laptop needed to access your footage. This is a meaningful difference from competing police surveillance trailers that require a local NVR bolted inside the enclosure and a laptop on-site to review recordings.
Each camera includes a 256 GB SD card for on-device edge recording that captures footage locally, providing a redundant backup that fills recording gaps if connectivity drops. In parallel, 12 months of cloud storage with 30-day retention is included. Your team views and controls cameras in real time from any browser or the mobile app on iOS, Android, or Windows, from anywhere in the world. No VPN. No port forwarding. No IT department required.
Need more? Upgrade the SD card to 512 GB or 1 TB for extended edge storage. Extend cloud retention to 60 or 90 days. Or, if your agency runs an existing RTCC or VMS platform, the ONVIF-compliant cameras integrate directly. CTS can configure the entire video and storage setup to your requirements before the unit ships, or leave cameras at factory default for plug-and-play operation. We work the way you work.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the FST-44 different from other solar surveillance trailers?
The FST-44 is the only remote surveillance trailer on the market with a field-swappable RATT mast. Deploy the trailer with the mast for your mission, then when the operation changes, remove the mast and dual PTZ pole camera and redeploy on a vehicle hitch, tripod, or wall bracket. One person, under 15 minutes, no tools. It runs on LiFePO4 lithium batteries that last 10x longer than the AGM batteries in competing trailers, and it weighs 500–1,000 lbs less than comparable units. It is purpose-built on a fully boxed steel frame welded in Knoxville, Tennessee.
How is the mast raised and lowered?
An onboard electric pneumatic air compressor raises and lowers the mast at the push of a button. No cranking, no pumping. The FST-44 also includes a manual hand pump backup. Elevation and retraction take approximately 60 seconds.
What cameras and routers work with it?
Ships with dual PTZ cameras: 30x optical zoom, 600′ IR, in a 4-sided aluminum powder-coated enclosure. All cameras are ONVIF-compliant IP cameras, compatible with any VMS or RTCC platform including Fusus, Genetec, Milestone, and Motorola CommandCentral. Multiple enterprise-grade camera and router brands are available. We match the hardware to your agency’s existing ecosystem so integration is seamless on day one.
What battery technology does the FST-44 use?
LiFePO4 lithium iron phosphate, 48V DC, 640–1,280 Ah capacity. Delivers 2,000–5,000 charge cycles vs 300 for AGM. Charges 4x faster from solar, weighs half as much. CTS also offers custom battery chemistry for arctic, desert, or high-altitude deployments.
How does the folding tongue work?
The tongue folds along the frame, reducing stored length to 98 inches, which fits inside a standard parking space. No tools required. Eliminates the lost tongue problem with removable designs where the tongue gets stored separately and misplaced during long deployments.
Can a standard patrol vehicle tow this?
Yes. At 2,000–2,500 lbs actual weight (3,500 lb GVWR), any SUV, pickup, or fleet vehicle with a 2-inch hitch tows it. No CDL required. Trailer brakes, breakaway box, and 7-way connector are standard.
Is it eligible for grant funding?
Yes. Fully NDAA/TAA compliant, 100% grant eligible. CTS is on TIPS Contract #230105 for streamlined no-bid procurement. Applicable programs: DHS, COPS Office, FEMA, ARPA, SHSP, UASI, BSIR. Because CTS sells equipment with no subscription or lease, there are no recurring costs for grant administrators. Contact us for grant application assistance.
What VMS does CTS recommend for Axis camera deployments?
For agencies running Axis cameras, our default video management system is Axis Camera Station Edge, a lightweight, edge-based VMS that runs directly on the camera or an onboard appliance. It provides local recording, remote playback, and seamless integration into larger Axis ecosystems without requiring a dedicated server. For agencies with existing VMS platforms, the FST-44’s ONVIF-compliant cameras integrate directly with no additional software.
What is ONVIF and why does it matter?
ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) is an open industry standard that ensures IP cameras, recorders, and software from different manufacturers work together. Every camera on the FST-44 is ONVIF-compliant, meaning it integrates into any standards-based VMS or RTCC platform, including Fusus, Genetec, Milestone, and Motorola CommandCentral, without proprietary software, licensing fees, or vendor lock-in. This is a critical distinction from competitors who use closed ecosystems that force you onto their platform and charge recurring subscription fees to access your own camera feeds.
What is the difference between the FST-44 and FXT-44?
The FST-44 has a field-swappable RATT mast. Deploy it on the trailer, then remove and redeploy on a hitch, tripod, or wall when the mission changes. 35 lb payload. The FXT-44 has a fixed mast with 150 lb payload, mast-mounted 5G, remote monitoring, and optional Starlink. The FST-44 does NOT include remote energy monitoring or Starlink capability. Choose FST-44 for deployment flexibility. Choose FXT-44 for maximum autonomous surveillance. See all three models on our trailer comparison page.
Do the cameras require an NVR or local server?
No. Every camera ships with a 256 GB SD card for local edge recording plus 12 months of cloud storage with 30-day retention, included at no extra cost. View and control cameras from any browser or the mobile app (iOS, Android, Windows) anywhere in the world. No NVR, no camera server, no laptop required on-site. The SD card provides recording redundancy. If connectivity drops, edge storage fills the gap automatically via the ONVIF standard. Upgrade options: 512 GB or 1 TB SD cards, extended cloud retention (60 or 90 days). If your agency already operates an RTCC or VMS platform, the cameras integrate directly. CTS can also configure the complete video and storage setup or leave cameras at factory default. We work the way you want.
